Virgin Media tweet exposes password security problem

Hacker News noticed that Virgin Media's staff can view users' passwords. This is not a good idea, because it means if they get hacked, not only are everyone's passwords exposed, but also those on every account on every site where any of them have ever re-used it: think thousands of PayPal, Gmail and bank accounts.
